NORESCO, a national leader in energy efficiency and energy infrastructure solutions, has won a $43 million energy savings performance contract for work at Fort Jackson in Columbia, South Carolina, the U.S. Army's largest and most active basic combat training center. Researchers at the U.S. Natick Soldier Research, Development and Engineering Center (NSRDEC) are now studying the impact of different types of lighting in military shelters on soldiers, according to U.S. Army report.

Energy Focus, a fiber-optic and LED lighting provider, said Tuesday it would develop LEDs for the U.S. Army to replace rockets flares which are used to provide infrared light to soldiers wearing night vision goggles on the battlefield.
