LEDinside Reports Sliding LED Package Prices

LED package prices continued to fall in the second quarter, according to the latest price report from LEDinside, a division of TrendForce. Compared with the prior quarter, the average LED price for lighting application products has fallen by 1~9%, excluding the package 2835 LEDs. Since the 2835 LED products are mainstream products in China’s lighting market, their average price decline has reached 10~17%, more severe than products of other package types. For backlight LED package products, average prices dropped by 3~6% during the second quarter. Price competition in the direct-type LED backlight market remains fiercest this year compared to other LED packages market.

The global high brightness LED market scale reached US $14.4 billion this year and is estimated to increase to US $16.6 billion by 2018, with a compound growth rate of 4%, according to “2014 LED Supply and Demand Data Base” by LEDinside, a LED research division of TrendForce. The LED package market value for lighting applications will reach US $4.88 billion and maintain market share of 34%.

LEDInside: LED Lamp Retail Price Fluctuate in Sept.

Global Average Selling Price (ASP) for 40W equiv. LED lamp was up 2.8 percent to US$ 16.2 in Sept. 2013, according to a latest LED lamp ASP survey by LEDinside, a research subsidiary of TrendForce. Few new products were released worldwide last month. Global 60W equiv. LED lamp was down 2.5 percent to US$ 21.4. Price plunge was most evident in U.S., as top North American lighting brands and wholesalersretail channel brands begin releasing super competitive-pricedcheap products. The implemented strategy has obviously stimulated purchases.

TrendForce: Global LED Lighting Demand Growths to Continue in 2014

The LED lighting market value will soar 47.8% to reach US$35.3 billion by 2014, compared to 2013, according to projections by LEDinside, a green energy research subsidiary of TrendForce. In addition, LED lighting penetration rates are expected to increase 32.7%, with bulb and tube penetration rates at 20% and 15% respectively. To meet new LED bulb and tube market demands in 2014, an estimated 250 MOCVD equipment will be required, according to Jack Kuo, Senior Analyst, Trendforce.

LEDinside: Taiwanese LED manufacturers’ sales revenue in May sets a record high; order demand for backlight in June remains steady

As indicated by market research organization TrendForce’s research division LEDinside, LED market demand was benefited from inventory demand and lighting market order demand. In May, 2013, Taiwanese listed LED manufacturers’ total sales revenue increased to NTD10.96 billion (+6.8%MoM,+23.8%YoY). Meanwhile, Taiwanese listed LED chip manufacturers’ total sales revenue reached NTD4.44 billion (+6.7%MoM,+10.9%YoY). Moreover, that of Taiwanese listed LED package manufacturers also increased to NTD6.52 billions (+6.9%MoM,+34.4%YoY).
