Jamaica’s Energy Minister Phillip Paulwell revealed in late Feb. 2014, the Jamaican government will be amending regulations to lift tariff for solar equipment and LED lamps, according to an article by Jamaican media The Gleaner.

In July, global 40W equiv. LED lamp Average Selling Prices (ASP) fell slightly by 0.6% to US$ 15.5, with price drops most evident in U.S.,according to LEDinside, an LED research division of international research organization TrendForce. Global ASP for 60W equiv. LED prices downed by 3.3% to US$ 22.6, with falls most obvious in Europe.

The LED lamp, called the Curl, was created by British designer Sebastian Bergne. A circular LED bulb is finished simply with a curl of white plastic, resulting in a minimalist design and original shape.
