Taiwan-based Integrated Service Technology (iST), a joint venture of German inspection company DEKRA, recently opened a new LED lighting lab in Shenzhen, China. The new lab meets the ever-growing demand for product testing and certifications within the local LED industry, providing one-stop services for China-based manufacturers. 

On August 5, 2016, Shanghai Wellmax Lighting Industry’s (WELLMAX) Sales Manager Tony Song and Senior R&D Engineer Jianzhang Wang led a team to visit the DEKRA Testing & Certification Lab located at Jiangchang San Road, Shanghai, and carried out in-depth technical exchange with DEKRA representatives. The team visited the LED Technical Center and Mechanical Laboratory, the Performance and Efficiency Laboratory, and the Electrical Safety Laboratory, and was introduced to the EMC Test Room (for radiation, conduction and anti-interference), the Optical Testing Center (with light distribution test instrument), and many other experimental facilities and methods.

DEKRA is strategically expanding its product testing business in Asia. The expert organisation has signed an agreement for acquisition of the QuieTek Corporation in Taipei, Taiwan. This purchase compliments DEKRA’s service portfolio and further strengthens DEKRA’s position in testing of electrical and electronic products and components.

DEKRA has recently received official recognition from the Department of Civil Defence in the United Arab Emirates as a Testing & Certification Body for emergency lighting. Hence, by working with DEKRA, it is now even easier for manufacturers of emergency lighting products to gain access to the flourishing UAE market.

DEKRA, a leading global provider of auditing and certification services, has entered into a cooperation agreement with TRaC Global, a Zigbee Alliance Certified test laboratory in the United Kingdom. The new partnership will enable DEKRA to call on TRaC Global for ZigBee certification purposes, while TRaC Global will be able to extend its testing services in the field of electrical safety via DEKRA.

  The recalls of LED lighting products from European RAPEX (The Rapid Alext System for Non-food Consumer Products) were much more frequently in the past months, according to a report by global certification auditing institute DEKRA. The second quarter report of RAPEX shows that total 32 recalls of LED lighting products were due to safety issues. Among those recall list, you can see that even famous international brands were reported, it thus reveal a truth that quality of LED is a big concerned by both authority and consumers. The recalls list of Q2 report are:
