Evatec’s Semiconductor Technology Contended to Improve Micro LED Manufacturing Yields

The Swiss semiconductor equipment provider Evatec is renowned for its state-of-the-art solutions used for advanced packaging, power semiconductor manufacture, wireless communication, MEMS, and optoelectronic semiconductor manufacture. In 2009, Evatec started gaining popularity by introducing to the LED industry RADIANCE, an automated sputter tool offering thin-film deposition with ITO damage free quality. Evatec mainly partners with Tier 1 LED manufacturers from a multitude of regions including Europe, China, Taiwan, Korea, and the United States. LEDinside was hounored to have an interview with Henfy Su, Evatec’s General Manager for Greater China.
Current technologies are able to meet the quality requirements of traditional LED chip manufacture, whereas for Micro LED chip production that requires ‘zero particles’ or ‘particle-free’ deposition quality, the industry needs equipment with semiconductor technology to deal with the intricacy of the production, explained Su. The main focus of Micro LED technology; instead of high luminous efficacy, is ‘zero particles’ to achieve high production yields, suggesting those optoelectronics companies with semiconductor equipment are more likely to pioneer in the Micro LED market and secure their positions in the long run.
Evatec’s high performance CLN200 and RADIANCE both have high versatility and can be used to process the deposition of transparent conducting films (TCO), metal electrodes, and distributed Bragg reflectors (DBR) during the production of LED, as well as that of Micro LED. In addition, different from conventional ways to flip chips manually, Evatec’s equipment allows automated cassette to cassette chip handling. To use semiconductor equipment in the manufacturing process can produce LEDs that feature ‘zero particles’ quality, improve current density during current spreading, and consume lower VF when powered.
In 2017, Evatec plans to expand its business in China and Taiwan in hopes of nurturing relationships with clients from a wider mixture of places and improving customer service. With technical support from the solid, dedicated core team headquartered in Switzerland, Evatec is able to provide its clients with spot-on solutions and satisfy requests from its business partners, which the company sees as the first priority.
Evatec is to further announce the company’s technological development and innovations on its products at LEDinside Micro LEDforum 2017 in May. LEDinside therefore would like to send a cordial invitation to all professionals and whoever interested to join the great event!
