OSRAM Opto Semiconductors LEDs Lit University of Notre Dame

OSRAM Opto Semiconductors and MODA LIGHT transform campus restaurant with energy-efficient lighting technology

Legends, a campus restaurant and ale house located at the University of Notre Dame in Notre Dame, Indiana, recently completed the installation of 70 MODA LIGHT ICAN 15 down lights throughout its dining facilities. The installation of these fixtures, illuminated with OSRAM Opto Semiconductors LEDs, will help Legends achieve approximately 82% in energy savings from the previously installed fixtures.

Equipped with energy efficient OSRAM Opto Semiconductors' Golden DRAGON Plus LEDs, MODA LIGHT ICAN15s provide bright, white light at a consistent color temperature. The 6" and 4" ICAN down lights used in the installation contain Golden DRAGON Plus LEDs. Part of OSRAM Opto Semiconductors' DRAGON family of LEDs, Golden DRAGON Plus LEDs are a robust, long-life LED that can be used in a wide array of applications and have a lifetime of more than 50,000 hours (depending on application conditions), allowing for significantly reduced maintenance and replacement costs.

"Golden DRAGON Plus LEDs help us achieve optimum color consistency and brightness for our fixtures," said Mark Samson, CEO, MODA LIGHT. "The installation of MODA LIGHT ICAN15 down lights has noticeably improved the restaurant's look and feel, making Legends an inviting place for students and other campus personnel."

"LEDs are an excellent option for installations where designers are trying to create the mood of a space while simultaneously achieving cost and energy savings," said Brian Terao, Director of Solid State Lighting , OSRAM Opto Semiconductors. "Restaurants and hospitality applications are particularly well suited for creating dynamic environments through the use of LEDs."

Within Legends, MODA LIGHT has also outfitted a football and basketball trophy cabinet with its PUK-G3 recessed fixtures. These fixtures also contain OSRAM Opto Semiconductors Golden Dragon Plus LEDs, which emit no UV or IR rays, making them an ideal choice for accent lighting and display case applications.
To complement these fixtures, MODA LIGHT has also partnered with Lutron to provide the University with the exclusive Hi-lume A-Series Dimming Driver with no pop-up effect and 1% dimming to be used with the ICAN down lights.

The installation of MODA LIGHTs at the campus restaurant met both the University's goals of quality lighting and energy efficiency.

Legends' trophy display case has been outfitted with MODA LIGHT recessed fixtures, using OSRAM Opto Semiconductors Golden DRAGON Plus LEDs that emit no UV or IR rays.
