Micrel Introduced New HBLED Driver MIC3202

Micrel Inc. has introduced the MIC3202, a new step-down HBLED driver with high-side current sense, suits for MR-16 lamps and other general illumination applications.

The MIC3202 has capacity for handling up to eight 1A HBLEDs in series at over 90 percent efficiency with ±5 percent current accuracy from input voltages of 6V to 37V.

The device operates constant current with changes in input voltage and output load with its hysteretic control architecture and high-side current sense scheme. Its operating frequency is adjustable up to 1MHz giving design flexibility.

The MIC3202 features a dedicated PWM dimming pin permitting ultra wide contrast ratios, as well as an enable pin for very low power shutdown, over temperature protection and UVLO. With an internal power switch, it doesn't need external compensation. It comes in an exposed pad SOIC-8L package.

The price of MIC3202 is starting at $1.29 for 1,000 units.
