Lighting Science Group Announced Its One Millionth Bulb

Lighting Science Group has announced its one millionth bulb, an “ultra efficient” omnidirectional LED A19 bulb which delivers an 850 lumen output and should last almost 23 years.

With the new bulb, it claimed title as the first domestic firm to manufacture within the US one million LED light bulbs in less than a year.

The 13W bulb is designed to replace the 60W incandescent bulb, and it use 75% less energy than the latter. It will be made available for purchase in January for less than $30.

At present, Lighting Science Group is going head-t0-hear with the new AmbientLED A19 bulb from Philips, claiming its bulb “costs less, lasts twice as long and has a higher lumen output” than the Philips bulb.
