Developed by LBS Bina Group Bhd (LBS), D’Island Residence is situated on an expansive 175acresite and comprises 237 super-link houses, 298 semi-detached homes, 148 bungalows, 352 high-end condominium units and commercial hub. The development will also feature a clubhouse and environmental-friendly components like energy-efficient street lights and a rainwater harvesting system.

Mr. O Swee Aun, Country Manager of GE Lighting Malaysiacommented: “We are pleased to support LBS’s first high-enddevelopment. Lighting plays a key role in creating the right atmospheric environment in the night space to enhance the brand promise of a development. GE’s LED bulbs and signage system are proven solutions for high-quality illumination with lower energy usage and ease of maintenance. This is a more sustainable approach for our clients in the longer term. We look forward to creating a tasteful, safe and comfortable night environment for D’Island Residence.”

High-quality Compound and Signage Illumination

GE Lighting will install 140 units of LED R150 and 49 units of R250 for the compound lighting at D’Island Residence. These two luminaries are ideal for street and compound illumination as they direct the light to where it is needed while reducing the glare from the fitting to less than 5%. There is no wasted upward light leakage. In addition, the white LED light makes for a more modern and vibrant atmosphere in the night space.

For the entrance signage, the Tetra miniMAXsignagesystemis a popular choice as it provides for miniature channel letter lighting for logo letters. It is also ideal for cove lighting, accent or border lighting. The OptiLens maximizes the area of light coverage to produce outstanding uniformity. It also comes with easy mounting and an over-molded design which protects the components from moisture. Users have a choice of a full range of colors including white, warm white, red, blue and green.

Positive Environmental Impact and Returns
With GE Lighting’s solution, D’Island Residence’s grounds will be well-illuminated while its entrance signage will enjoy great visibility. On an operating level, the estimated savings in terms of energy usage and maintenance costs amount to US$181,692 per annum. This translates to a payback period of about 5 years. From an environmental perspective, the energy savings is equivalent to eliminating approximately 507,000 lbs of carbon dioxide car emissions per year, or creating 62.8 acres of new trees.

Dato’ Lim Hock San, the Managing Director of LBS added:“D’Island Residence is a milestone project for our company and we place great importance on every detail to ensure that we offer the best living experience within a sustainable development. Quality illumination that is energy-efficient is a key consideration.
