Nichia Files LED Patent Infringement Lawsuit against TV Maker Vizio

Nichia has filed a complaint in the Eastern Court of Texas in U.S. court against American TV manufacturer Vizio for infringing its LED patent (U.S. Patent No. 8,530,250), reported Law 360 magazine.

Nichia announced in a company statement,  under the lawsuit it will seek an injunction and damages for the alleged infringement.

The possibility of the court ruling in Nichia’s favor could be high, since the patent in suit is the same one that the Texas court ruled Everlight had infringed earlier this year.

The Eastern Court of Texas ruled on January 28, Everlight’s XI3030, XI3535, 62-217D, 62-257D, and 45-21S series of LED products had infringed Nichia’s U.S. Patent No. 8,530,250 (250 patent).

According to the plaintiff filed by Nichia, the LEDs in Vizio LED-backlit TVs uses a similar manufacturing process to Everlight's infringed products.
