LCD TV price war would have little impact on the market share

Recently, Tatung planed to low LED-backlit LCD TV price, 32-inch LCD TV from around NT$30,000 down to NT$24,900 (US$793),and 42-inch LCD TV from about NT$ 43,900 slipping to NT$34,900.while Taiwan suppliers planed to display new LED TV models in the next two months.

Prices for 42-inch LED TV from Taiwan vendors Chimei and BenQ were around NT$39,000. Samsung has down 40-inch LED TV from NT$47,900 to NT$43,900 and 32-inch models down from NT$29,900 to NT$27,900.

In 2010, LED TV sales in Taiwan by a single vendor was around 200-300 units. But Tatung's LCD TV shipments had got 78,000 units until in August 31st, in which July growing to 12,000 and August increasing 10,000 units. As earlier as Q1, the company had started developed LED TV segment with a 22-inch model.

It is reported that market penetration was unlikely to reach the 10% threshold for 2010 due to a still considerable price gap between LED TV and conventional LCD TV.
