Albeo Technologies Inc., a LED lighting manufacturer of Boulder, Colorado USA, is relocating its operations to 2108 55th Street in Boulder, a 20,000-square-foot facility that will house production lines, quality control and new engineering and test labs. Albeo said the company is moving from a 12,000-square-foot building at 3125 Sterling Circle in order to better serve its diverse base of customers.

Following the official launch of the Zenaro Lighting Alliance in April 2010 - a global company alliance between founding members Everlight Electronics (Taiwan), LCC (Germany) and Aphos Lighting (USA) that was established to confront the future challenges of the global lighting market by bundling the members' LED technology and lighting expertise - the foundation of a new company Zenaro Lighting GmbH was announced today.

Austriamicrosystems has announced the AS1119, the most advanced and smallest LED dot-matrix driver, the company said it is targeted for dot-matrix displays in mobile phones, personal electronics and toys. The AS1119 drives 144 LEDs but requires only 9 mm² PCB space, reduces external component count, reduces connector pin count and requires fewer PCB layers. Benefits for end users include an 80 per cent longer battery lifetime, more colourful effects and smoother-running animations.

PT Panasonic Gobel Indonesia (PGI), cooperation by Japanese electronics manufacturer Panasonic Corporation and the Gobel corporate family, has discussed how to develop its industry in Indonesia. Panasonic had made Indonesia its global production base for several products, including batteries and LED lamps. New lithium coin battery factory in Indonesia is expected to start operation in November.

The Chinese city Shanghai aims to establish itself as a national LED base with all sectors in the industry chain, from chip design, screen vendors to assembly and test. At 2010 Shanghai World Expo, more than 80 percent of indoor lighting features LED technology, which is regarded as a green technology. So, multinational and domestic LED firms also are seeking to expand their presence in the Chinese market after the Expo ends.

Taiwan’s LED chipmaker Lextar Electronics is expanding its production capability in September in order to adopt  MOCVD machines for 6-inch epitaxial wafers, which made Lextar may be the first LED chip maker in Taiwan with such equipmentmake. Lextar pointed out that its September capacity is expected to reach 90,000 wafers and 750 million LED chips. At the end of the year, the company plans to have a capacity of 130,000 wafers per month and 850 million LED chips.

Marl has added a pink version to its 676 series of standard indicator LEDs. These rugged IP67 sealed LEDs are extremely popular for panels and status indication applications due to their wide viewing angle, according to Marl. With the addition of a pink version, Marl now offers the range of colors in its 676 series is increased to six: red, yellow, green, blue and cool white.

Burton Medical, Inc. has introduced its new Super Exam 50® LED. AIXTRON AG announced a new order from Epilight Technology Co., Ltd, China for four CRIUS® 31x2 inch MOCVD tools. Epilight placed its order for the HB GaN LED growth reactors in the first quarter of 2010. The local AIXTRON support team will commission the new CRIUS® reactors at the company’s facility in Shanghai during the third quarter of 2010.

Wavien, Inc. is demonstrating a new LED-Based Miniature Graphic Projector. Using its proprietary LED Recycling Technology, it produces over 1,000 lumens for indoor and outdoor applications.

Future Lighting Solutions partners with Creative Technology Hong Kong Limited to produce a new line of solid state downlights under Creative Technology's Mabushi brand. The luminaires utilize Luxeon Rebel LEDs and were designed with thermal, electrical and optical support from Future's engineering team.

Cleveland City Council has approved a controversial plan to buy millions of dollars worth of LED lights for the city. The city will ask for bids from companies to provide the lights, in exchange for locating its plant here, but not everyone is sold on this idea. The city's mayor, Frank Jackson, previously attempted to make a deal with a chinese company for the exclusive contract in exchange for opening a manufacturing plant. However, the city council required that there be a competitive bidding process for the contract.

Littelfuse, Inc. (NASDAQ/NGS:LFUS) has introduced the PLED5HT Series circuit protection device that increases LED lighting string reliability. Lighting Science Group’s Prolific DC LED street lights will soon light up Mexico City's newly constructed "Viaducto Bicentenario" elevated superhighway, which runs 23 kilometers from Lomas Verdes to Tepotzotlan. BHP Energy Mexico S. de R.L. de C.V. is LSG's exclusive representative in Mexico. Gerstl Consultores selected BHP Energy Mexico to provide LED-based street lights to work with Gerstl Consultatores' solar power systems. LSG and BHP Energy Mexico are jointly announcing the nearly completed project.

The Carbon Company (SGL) 's isostatic graphite parts are predominantly used in the production of silicon for solar energy and semiconductor wafers as well for LEDs. To strengthen global market position, SGL Group will invest approximately €75 million into the capacity expansion of isostatic graphite to support the global growth in the solar energy, LED and semiconductor industries within the next 3 years.

The Chinese decorative lighting manufacturer Neo-Neon LED Lighting International Ltd. will open 2,000 LED lighting fixtures shops in three to five years throughout mainland China, which is estimated an investment of 500 million Chinese yuan (US$73 million). B.Y. Fan, the company’s chairman, noted that the company opened its first retail shop in Hong Kong early this year and will open a store in Taipei next year.

The top U.S. chemicals manufacturer Dow Chemical Co. will invest US$45 million to build a plant producing key electronic materials - LED and display panel components in South Korea and the facility will be located in the city of Cheonan, 92 kilometers south of Seoul. Dow Chemical has signed a memorandum of understanding with the governments of South Chungcheong Province and the city of Cheonan. Dow notes that construction for the plant will begin in October and would be completed in 2015.

Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) will install LED system signs and requests a new tender with a cost of JOD 100.000, to import new LED traffic lights, said by the Director of Traffic Operations Department, Eng. Khaled Haddadeen. He noted that GAM has already tested the traffic lights on Al Rabiah sign (the intersection of Mecca Street and Saad Ibn Abi Waqqas Street, and 60~70% of the Capital's traffic lights, about 125 light signs, have already been replaced.

Sharp Corporation is following up its LED lamps with another mainstay of residential lighting by introducing six models of industry-first LED ceiling lights into the Japanese market. Using Sharp’s proprietary light diffusion technology, these ceiling lights achieve a thin design that is 43 mm at the thickest part and just 8 mm at the thinnest.

High Score Corporation has entered into a licensing agreement to develop a line of Energy Saving LED Street Lights and Parking Lot Lights with NexPhase Lighting. In spite of earnest efforts on the part of management this funding has not fully materialized. As a result, the previous President of the company, Dror Svorai, stepped down from his position as CEO and created an LED Lighting Factory.

LG Display of Korea will show off a 31-inch OLED TV at the IFA show. LGD said the TV is the biggest of its type. LGD has not unveiled other details on the set, including resolution, thickness or price. Also on display at the event will be LG's 72-inch 3D LED TV and what is being described as the thinnest LCD TV, at just about 0.28 inches.

JP Sercel Associates, Inc. AIXTRON AG announced a new order for one AIX 200, 1x2 inch configuration deposition system from the Pontificial Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), Brazil. The new system will be delivered and installed at the Semiconductor Laboratory (LabSem) of the University.
