Epistar made an agreement with Toyoda on LED cross license

Epistar has become the only Taiwan company, which gets the cross license from Toyoda Gosei .The two companies has made an agreement that both Epistar and Toyoda Gosei(including subsidiaries) can use each other's patents for specific technologies in Group III-V compound semiconductor LEDs, which include InGaN LEDs and AlGaInP LEDs.

It's said that Epistar holds valuable patents for high-brightness AlGaInP LEDs and high-power GaN LEDs. Likewise, Toyoda Gosei holds a number of valuable patents for InGaN LEDs. Therefore, they cooperate to utilize each other's technologies in order to further advance the market for LED products.
