LG Leaked as Flexible OLED Display Supplier for Apple iWatch

There has been many rumors and speculations floating around the internet as to who will be the provider of OLED panels for Apple’s new iWatch. An increasing number of sources have been pointing their fingers towards LG lately.

The most recent source indicating LG as the sole provider of OLED panels for Apple has come from the South Korean media. Yahoo news has also picked up on this story, adding to its validity.

Apple plans to sell around 9 million iWatch units by the end of this year, according to the report. The iWatch is rumored by Navor to come in two different sizes, 1.3 inches and 1.5 inches. The official launch date is set for some time in September.

LG has long since been linked with Apple when news was leaked in January of this year that the company would supply Apple with the same curved OLED panel technology it uses in its G Flex smartphones, according to Cult of Mac.

The reason that Apple has supposedly chosen LG as their OLED panel supplier is because the company’s OLEDs are thin, light-weight, and produce high luminosity without consuming a lot of power.

As time draws closer to September, Apple may finally open up about whether the rumors are true about LG being their OLED provider.
