OSRAM SYLVANIA, Xicato, Qualcomm, the American Lighting Association and more will share their vision for the future of solid state lighting at Smithers Apex’s LEDs and the SSL Ecosystem 2014: Lighting in the Information Age. www.ledsconference.com This 15th annual conference and exhibition will take place September 22-24, 2014 at the Hyatt Cambridge in Cambridge, Massachusetts.  The Super Early Bird price of $799 expires Friday, July 25th.

“LEDs’ approach to the ecosystem of lighting is blazing a trail beyond the pedestrian questions of $/klm (cost) or lm/W (efficiency) in general illumination.  Using a sophisticated compound semiconductor material system to produce ‘just’ light is a wasted opportunity – SSL Ecosystem 2014: Lighting in the Information Age focuses on the ‘what else’, unlocking the digital potential of this platform. There is no other event like it,” says Dr. Neil Cameron, Investment Director, Emerald Ventures.

The SSL Ecosystem Summit will be chaired by Dr. Chips Chipalkatti, Managing Director, Dr. Chips Consulting, LLC and formerly Sr. Director, Solid State Lighting and Emerging Market Initiatives at OSRAM SYLVANIA.  Dr. Chips, the Advisory and the Conference Directors at Smithers Apex have crafted an innovative program around the core ‘what else’ discussions including the next generation of intelligent, digital lighting systems; challenging current lighting system standards; investment perspectives in the solid state lighting ecosystem and more.

“While this is our 15th annual conference and exhibition bringing together key members of the LED community, I want to stress that this will be completely different from previous editions and different from any other event in the marketplace today,” said Andrew Smaha, conference director for Smithers Apex.  “We are calling on industry advocates and lighting experts to step up and invest in new systems, new technology and an emerging market. We believe this event will bring together the elite gathering of talent needed to cut through the noise and get right to the heart of the industry’s potential.  And we will do it by connecting student to researcher to engineer to corporate executive all in an inspirational format that provides access to key industry stakeholders and educational opportunity for any organization that attends.”

Attendees at SSL Ecosystem 2014 will interact with the researchers, designers, investors and manufacturers moving the lighting industry forward including the American Lighting Association; Canaccord Genuity Inc.; Digital Lumens; GE Lighting; Global Lighting Consulting; Lighting Science Group; Lumenetix; Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships (NEEP); OSRAM Americas; OSRAM SYLVANIA; Philips Lighting; Qualcomm Technologies Inc.; TeleLumen and Xicato.

Also presenting at SSL Ecosystem 2014 are Boston University; Cree Lighting; Dr. Chips Consulting, LLC; Emerald Ventures; EMerge Alliance; Light Insight Design Studio; Lighting Solution Development; Noveda Technologies; Novus Energy Partners; Passport Capital; Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute; TÜV SÜD America and Wilger Testing Company.
