Epistar Sells Factory in Hsinchu to Mediatek for Around US$22 M

Taiwan’s largest LED manufacturer Epistar has sold its Duxing factory in Hsinchu Science Park to IC design manufacturer Mediatek for NT$ 736 million (US $21.98 million), reported CNA.

After integrating the production capacity of its factories scattered across Hsinchu Science Park in Northern Taiwan, the company decided to sell its Duxing factory to activate assets and lower costs. The LED maker estimated it did not profit from this factory transaction.

When Epistar announced plans of selling its factory in December 2015, the company was aiming to sell the factory for NT $836 million.

Mediatek announced the newly purchased site will be remodeled into an office building.
