TSMC to Transfer Solar, LED Units into Two New Subsidiaries

As report goes, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Ltd. (TSMC) scheduled to transfer its solar and solid-state lighting businesses into two new subsidiaries.

Its LED-based solid-state lighting business will be transferred at a value not exceeding NT$2.8 billion ($96.9 million) to serve as initial paid-in capital for TSMC Solid State Lighting Ltd. And its previously-announced solar business will be transferred value not exceeding NT$12.5 billion ($432.8 million) to serve as initial paid-in capital for TSMC Solar Ltd..

TSMC expects the establishment of these two subsidiaries can motivate entrepreneurship and facilitate business specialization to strengthen overall competitiveness and operational efficiency.
