Overview of Listed Chinese LED Companies Projected 3Q13 Net Profit

Four major Chinese LED manufacturers have recently announced their projected earnings for 3Q13. This article gives a general overview of Xiamen Changelight Co. (Changelight), Ledman Optoelectronics (Ledman), Honglitronic, and Shenzhen Changfang Semiconductor Light Co. (Changfang Light) estimated earnings for the last quarter.

Changelight 3Q13 Net Profit Estimated to Fall Less than 20%

Changelight announced on Oct. 14, 2013, its estimated net profit for Jan.-Sept. 2013 will range between RMB 69.78 million to RMB 87.22 million (US$ 11.43 million-14.29 million). Earnings are expected to be maintained or down 20% compared to earnings from the same period in 2012 of RMB 87.22 million.

Due to growing 3Q13 LED demands, the company saw growth in sales volume and revenue, but its overall net profit decreased due to lowered product prices, said Changelight.

Ledman Forecasts Net Profit Down 30-40% Over Jan.-Sept. 2013

Shenzhen Ledman Optoelectronics announced its sales performance forecast for Jan.-Sept. 2013 on the same day as Changelight. Ledman estimated net profit for the period will drop 30-40% to RMB 16.13 million to 18.82 million from RMB 26.89 million in Jan.-Sept. 2012.

Ledman estimates 3Q13 revenues for the reporting period will basically be the same as the same period in 2012. Due to the company’s expanded business operations, human resources and investments in new product R&D. These have led to soaring company costs compared to the same period last year, and has caused declining net profits compared to the same period last year.

Honglitronic Projects 3Q13 Net Profit to Drop 20-40%

Honglitronic announced its 3Q13 sales forecast, claiming its listed company’s stockholder’s net profit for Jan.-Sept., 2013 was down 20-40% to RMB 27.14 million to RMB 36.19 million.

The announcement also pointed out the company’s total revenue for Jan.-Sept. 2013 was up 20-30% compared to the same period last year to about RMB 4.75 billion-5.15 billion. Basic earnings per share (EPS) declined 20-40% to about RMB 0.11-0.14.

The decrease in stockholder earnings was caused by major decline in LED product retail prices which led to lower net profits, and increased operation costs in the new industrial park, said Honglitronic.

Honglitronic pointed out the current forecast is based on initial calculations by its financial department. It is estimated 3Q13 extraordinary items is about RMB 4 million, and detailed 3Q13 actual sales performance and statistics will be revealed in its 3Q13 financial reports.

Changfang Light estimates 3Q13 Net Profit to Increase 2-13%

Chanfang Light’s sales projection announced on Oct. 14 estimated the company’s Jan.-Sept. 2013 net profit to grow 2.17-13.14% compared to the previous year to RMB 41.50 million-46.00 million.

The company’s sales and revenue has been increasing steadily mainly due to the LED industry’s demand and volume shift towards good product. The company is starting to see results from its sales channels, and expanded company market shares in the product market. At the same time, as the company supply chain becomes more comprehensive, the company’s profitability can still be improved.
