Hens Lay More Eggs Under Red or White LED Lights

News Source:

A study by researcher from Federal University of Grande Dourados, Brazil revealed that different color LED lights influences hens layer production, according to a report of World Poultry.

Research shows that layers have highest egg production (%) when under red LED, white LED and incandescent light sources. Egg weight, feed intake and internal egg quality (albumen height, specific gravity and Haugh unit), however, were not influenced by the light source. Types of lighting, Incandescent or LEDs, are not deciding factors too, as shown in this research.

The study places 360 Isa Brown layers with an initial age of 56 weeks in isolated layer house, and applied blue LED, yellow LED, green LED, red LED, white LED and 40W incandescent light in the treatments. Researches applied 24 treatments, 4 periods for each light sources and with three replicates.
