[News] Shaping The Future: Samsung Display at Computex 2025

News Source:

From May 20 to 23, Samsung Display participated in Computex 2025, Asia’s largest IT exhibition, held in Taipei, for the first time. Under the theme “AI Next,” about 1,400 global IT companies including NVIDIA, Qualcomm and AMD took part in this expo. We unveiled our next-generation OLED technologies, which are designed to transform the user experience with slimmer form factors, richer visuals, and groundbreaking energy efficiency, befitting the AI era. Let us walk you through the innovations that shaped our first-ever appearance at Computex.

At the Samsung Display booth, visitors were greeted by a massive media wall made of six 77-inch QD-OLED TVs. This installation highlighted the core strengths of Samsung OLED - True Black and vibrant color accuracy - drawing guests into an immersive viewing experience right from the entrance.

Demonstrating ‘Slim & Light Performance’ with a Dual-Arm Robot

In the main booth area, a dual-arm robot from Rainbow Robotics showcased just how light and slim our OLED panels are. Holding an OLED panel in one hand and an LCD in the other, the robot placed both above an air vent. Our OLED panel, which weighed only 18 grams, gracefully floated in the airflow, while the LCD panel remained still. This visually engaging demonstration, previously featured at CES and MWC, captivated visitors once again.

OLED Meets Artworks by Koh Sang Woo

In the “OLED Now” zone, we exhibited an AI-driven collaboration with visual artist Koh Sang Woo. His emotionally rich artworks, inspired by endangered species, were displayed on OLED panels ranging from 11 to 49 inches, including tablets, laptops, and monitors. Thanks to the vivid color rendering of OLED and QD-OLED, viewers could experience these digital works with an unprecedented level of detail and depth.

Synchroma™: Consistent Color Across All Devices

The Synchroma™ exhibition - named by combining "Synchronization" and "Chroma" - demonstrated how Samsung OLED ensures accurate and consistent color across various devices. We showcased a 27-inch monitor, 16-inch laptop, and 6.2-inch smartphone - all featuring Samsung OLED - alongside LCD-based counterparts. By offering more than 99% of DCI-P3 color gamut, Samsung OLED represented the Pantone-certified turquoise color precisely, while LCD showed noticeable deviations.

To illustrate real-world impact, we walked visitors through a seamless design-to-purchase journey:
A designer captures the Mediterranean Sea using a smartphone, extracts the turquoise color on a laptop, and applies it to a sneaker design. Then, a consumer views the final product on a monitor - identical in color to the original vision. From concept to consumer, color fidelity was perfectly preserved.

Ultra Clarity: Leading the Self-Emissive Display Industry

Nearby, we showcased the world’s highest-resolution self-emissive monitor: a 27-inch UHD OLED display with 160 PPI (Pixel per Inch). This monitor is ideal for ultra-detailed gaming, photo editing, and video production. Recently, as global manufacturers such as Samsung, Asus, Dell, and MSI have released 27-inch UHD models, the market has been receiving favorable reviews and is considered one of the products that will lead the self-emissive monitor market growth this year.

Samsung Display also presented a prototype 27-inch 5K OLED with a 220 PPI pixel density—surpassing our current industry-leading standard. With QD-OLED’s exceptional color gamut and fast response time, it’s set to become a game-changer for creators and professionals seeking precision visuals.

Introducing UT One: Thinner, Lighter, and Smarter

One of our biggest reveals at Computex 2025 was ‘UT(Ultra Thin) One’—a next-generation OLED panel designed with only one glass substrate. By replacing the upper glass layer with inorganic and organic thin films, we reduced both thickness and weight by approximately 30%, comparable to the weight of one laptop battery cell. This opens doors to either greater portability or expanded battery capacity.

UT One is also the first IT OLED panel to support a 1–120Hz variable refresh rate, powered by oxide TFTs, which help lower power consumption by up to 30%. Their ultra-low leakage current enables stable visuals even at sub-10Hz refresh rates, eliminating flickering.

We also introduced our intelligent low-power OLED technologies. Intelligent Color Technology(ICT) reduces power consumption by enhancing chroma and reducing luminance, maintaining the same perceived brightness. In addition, Edge Luminance Profile(ELP) minimizes power consumption by subtly dimming the brightness around the edges of the screen.

Dreamy Lifestyle Integration: CEO’s Library & Gaming Room

To highlight how OLED fits into real-life scenarios, we designed two immersive lifestyle zones. In the “CEO’s Library,” a round OLED wall display shows the current time in major cities around the world. Market updates flow in real-time across 49-inch and 27-inch QD-OLED monitors on the desk, while a flexible OLED-powered AI smart speaker adds the finishing touch—transforming a visionary office into reality.

In the Gaming Room, visitors experienced full immersion using 27-, 31.5-, and 49-inch QD-OLED monitors, along with a 15.6-inch OLED laptop. A side-by-side comparison between a 500Hz QD-OLED and a 240Hz LCD allowed guests to witness the ultra-smooth, low-latency performance of QD-OLED firsthand. Guests could also play popular titles like KartRider: Drift and Black Desert using our QD-OLED monitors.

Looking Ahead: Next Formfactor with AI

In our final zone, Next Formfactor with AI, we presented a lineup of future-ready flexible OLED technologies that embody the next evolution of display form factors.

Among them was a stretchable display featuring up to 25% elasticity and a resolution of 120 PPI, illustrating the potential for highly deformable yet sharp screens. We also showcased Flex S™ and Flex G™, our foldable innovations capable of bending in twice to support new modes of device interaction. Additionally, the Slidable Flex Duet demonstrated how a tablet-sized screen can be extended from 8.1 to 12.4 inches, offering versatility in a compact form.

This zone encapsulated our industry-leading OLED technologies for the future that are not only high-performing, but also low-power, portable, and tailored to the needs of next-generation lifestyles.

Our first appearance at Computex received positive feedback from global media and visitors alike. Particular attention was drawn to the debut of UT One, a breakthrough in thin, power-efficient OLED technology.

Through Computex 2025, Samsung Display introduced various IT OLED solutions - slimmer, lighter, and clear OLED, low-power technologies empowering AI era, and various form factors – that can envision the future lifestyle. We will continue to push the boundaries of possibility with innovative display products that can transform the way people experience digital life with the “AI Next” era.
