Peterson Introduces Versatile LED Interior Automotive Lights

Peterson Manufacturing is pleased to announce an innovative new design in interior lighting systems for cargo vehicles. Listed as the 359 Series the new, American-made light features a slim 1" x 18" bar of high-output Great White® LEDs and offers a host of advantages over traditional recessed dome lights.

Great White LEDs are  1" x 18" with an output of 600 lumens.

Among those advantages is its easy, go-anywhere, surface screw mount versatility. Whether mounted horizontally and/or vertically, the 359 Series light requires no cutting into trailer ceilings or side walls to install heat-dissipating mounting pans and conduit, thus reducing material costs and eliminating loss of R-value in insulated cargo areas. Simple no-splice harness connections avoid wiring problems while saving even more on labor costs.

According to Pat Clift, Peterson Director-OEM Sales, the overall savings with the 359 Series lights are substantial. “Purchasing and installing these new lights is about half the cost of the old, recessed dome light models,” Clift says. “And the 359’s cost efficiencies are matched by its energy and lighting efficiencies.”

Charged with Great White® LEDs outputting 600 lumens per unit, the sleek 359 Series lights have substantially less amp demand compared to conventional LED ceiling units. Yet for sheer “bright box” illumination, photometric tests prove that the 359 Series distributes light throughout the trailer more efficiently and evenly than traditional lighting. “The 359’s mounting versatility allows lights to be located strategically around the trailer interior,” said Clift. “You can flood the entire trailer with bright light, banishing shadows and enhancing the convenience and safety of cargo handling, day or night.”

Designed for use in any environment from -55º to higher temperatures, the 359 Series is ideal for a wide range of applications –– from heavy duty dry van and reefer trailers to smaller box trucks. An interior control module/timer switch is also available as an option. Clift reports that the first 359 Series lights will be available in the 18" bar model in summer 2014, with 12" and 6" slim-line models to follow. “We’re proud to bring this great new light to market,” Clift says. “It’s another 'Proudly Made in USA' example of Peterson’s Solutions on the Move.”
