Samsung Unveils Industry-First Bluetooth Mesh Network Enabled Smart LED Light Bulb

Samsung Electronics America, Inc. is showcasing its new Bluetooth-enabled Smart LED light bulb at LIGHTFAIR International 2014. Leveraging an industry-first mesh Bluetooth network, the bulb enables users to seamlessly control their lighting directly from any smart device. The power of this innovative new lighting solution will be demonstrated for hospitality, office, and home use in booth #5435 at the Las Vegas Convention Center from June 3-5.

“Samsung is creating new possibilities with lighting, whether for use in the hospitality industry, healthcare community, office environment or at home”

The Samsung Bluetooth Smart LED light bulbs require no bridge for connectivity; rather the bulbs use an industry-first mesh Bluetooth network to connect users’ smart devices to their lighting. A plug-and-play solution, the bulbs’ modern design represents a sharp break from the traditional look of the A19. The bulbs’ deliver impactful lighting characteristics and also offer control options including dimming and color tunability (2700K warm white to 6500K cool white) as well as preset scenarios for relaxing or waking up and alerts such as different lighting patterns and notifications when a phone is ringing. The mesh network allows for controllability of up to 64 lamps within a range of up to 2000 feet.

“Samsung is creating new possibilities with lighting, whether for use in the hospitality industry, healthcare community, office environment or at home,” said Pooja Vig Director of Marketing at Samsung Electronics America. “By integrating smart technology with LED lighting, we are providing solutions that revolutionize how we think about lighting, while enhancing the user experience by putting the power of lighting control in people’s hands.”

In addition, Samsung will be showcasing Zigbee-based smart lighting, innovative lighting platforms and its new range of L-Tubes and retrofit LED bulbs, including the PAR Series, Candle Series and A19 Series. With a combination of exceptional performance and stylish, sleek design, the new line of L-Tubes and retrofit bulbs is a smart investment and a simple upgrade for existing building environments ranging from hotels to offices, restaurants, and retail.
