Cornell Researchers Develop Microscopic Sensors Integrating Micro LED

Cornell researchers have developed microsensors that are tiny enough to fit 30,000 on one side of a penny. These microscopic sensors are equipped with an integrated circuit, solar cells and Micro LEDs that enable them to harness light for power and communication. LRC Collaborating With Cornell to Develop Phenotyping System to Bear the Next Generation of Grapes

The Lighting Research Center (LRC) at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute is collaborating with Cornell University on a $6.5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture, Specialty Crop Research Initiative to develop the next generation of grapes. The project, VitisGen2, is a collaboration of 25 scientists from 11 institutions who are working in multidisciplinary teams to accelerate development of new grape varieties that are more flavorful and sustainable.

Cornell University Converts 10 Sports Facilities to LED Lighting

Cornell University announced today that Ephesus Lighting, installer of high-output LED lighting at sports and entertainment venues, has been selected to install its system at 12 indoor facilities, including 10 sports venues, at the school’s Ithaca, NY campus. The announcement was made by W.S. (Lanny) Joyce P.E., Director of Utilities and Energy Management and Campus Energy Manager Mark Howe P.E., of Cornell University and Mike Lorenz, President of Ephesus Lighting.
