ams OSRAM has become the preferred supplier for high-end and new energy vehicles worldwide, thanks to its consistent product quality, excellent light efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. With strong customer support, product advantages, and extensive experience in industry customization, ams OSRAM continues to meet customer needs and pursue innovative market opportunities. According to TrendForce, ams OSRAM holds over 30% of the automotive LED market share, ranking first globally. TrendForce had the honor of an exclusive interview with Kimi Chen, Director, APAC Automotive AE at ams OSRAM, during DVN Shanghai. Kimi Chen shared insights on the latest advancements in interior lighting solutions and product developments.

Chen noted that interior lighting serves as a canvas for car manufacturers, where ambient lighting and ALIYOS can fully express personalization and functionality. This not only enhances interactivity but also showcases a variety of designs.

Traditional distributed ambient lighting control systems use CAN/LIN bus connections to link multiple independent RGB LED modules, controlled by the body control unit (BCU). As the vehicle electronics architecture evolves from distributed electronic control units (ECUs) to centralized pre-control systems, the architecture of automotive ambient lighting is evolving as well. In the body’s central domain control architecture, intelligent ambient lighting systems are centrally controlled through microcontrollers (MCUs) and domain controllers (DCs), achieving more precise lighting effects and synchronization.
ams OSRAM’s intelligent ambient light, OSIRE E3731i, offers an Open System Protocol (OSP). This protocol allows the microcontroller to send commands to and receive status updates from each OSIRE E3731i, facilitating high-precision color calibration and temperature compensation. This product has already been successfully integrated into models such as Lynk & Co 08, Zeekr 007, Zeekr 009 Glory Edition, and Zeekr MIX.

ams OSRAM is pioneering the future with innovative designs, introducing ALIYOS, which applies Mini LED technology onto thin, flexible, and transparent foils. These Mini LEDs, connected through nearly invisible metal wires, can be arranged with immense flexibility into any shape as individually addressable devices.

Recognizing the importance of the Chinese market, ams OSRAM showcased the ALIYOS dashboard prototype for the first time in China at the 37th DVN Shanghai event. By collaborating with the world’s major automakers and Tier-1 automotive suppliers, ams OSRAM continues to explore new possibilities in automotive interior and exterior lighting.
