Pixelstick Takes Lighting Painting to a Whole New Level with LEDs

Pixelstick takes light painting to a whole new level. Having only begun their fundraising campaign on creative project fundraiser website Kickstarter three days ago, but has already raised US $43,000 (NT $1,263,758) out of US $110,000 goal. The project is off to a good start.

Light painting occurs when the camera shutter is open long enough to capture a trail of light, which is usually from a unnatural light source such as electronics.

The Pixelstick takes this concept a step further with their portable frame containing 198 programmable color RGB LED bulbs. The Pixelstick works by taking a Bitmap image created in Photoshop uploaded through a SD card and through long exposure, slowly display the image one vertical line at a time. The length of the exposure can be adjusted from a few seconds to an hour, providing users with countless creative possibilities.

The fundraiser ends December 13, 2013.
