Hon Hai expects to attract Japanese excellent technical personnel and deepen the partnerships with highly skilled Japanese materials / equipment factories through establishing the R & D bases in Japan, in order to catch up with the leading OLED panel manufacturers like Samsung Electronics and other Korean makers.

According to reports, the program to set up OLED panel core technology R & D base will be conducted Hon Hai's R & D subsidiary in Japan established in May, this subsidiary will utilize its owned 12 billion yen budget for the investment of OLED panel related equipments, it is estimated that 40 OLED panel related technical personnel will be employed in the next three years, about 20 of which will be hired this year.

If the negotiation with SDP breaks, Hon Hai's backup plan is to utilize other companies' idle clean room located in Japan for the development of OLED panels.
