India’s Bengaluru is to Receive LED Tube Lights and Slashes Energy Bill

Indian government’s energy efficiency program is in place for Bengaluru. LED tube lights will be distributed at subsidized prices, reported Times of India.

It’s found that the majority of Bengalureans are used to tube lights over bulbs for their residential lighting system, said DK Shivakumar, Energy Minister. Therefore, the energy efficiency scheme (Hosa Belaku) in rural areas are encouraged to use LED lights.  In the case of Bengaluru, the authority decided to distribute LED tube lights.

LED tube lights that are sold at the price around INR 750 (US $11.22) will be provided to local residents at the price of INR 250 (US $3.74). The price will vary by the wattage. The distribution will be conducted by Energy Efficiency Service Limited (EESL). Meanwhile, there are also plans to distribute energy-efficient fans.
