The facility is said to be focus on Micro LED and Mini LED technology for iPhone or iPad display applications. As the facility is built within the Longtan Science Park under Hsinchu Science Park Bureau, the Bureau confirmed that Apple’s new facility has been registered with related document submitted and verified. However, all the involved parties including the Science Park Bureau, Ministry of Science and Technology of Taiwan as well as Epistar and AUO did not provide further details regarding the new Apple facility.

LEDinside visited the site where Apple’s new facility locates in November 2019. The new building is close to local actors in the upstream and downstream of the Micro LED supply chain including foundry service provider TSMC and panel maker AUO. The research and development processes of the new facility is thus supported by nearby resources with enhanced efficiency.

LEDinside noted that the new base will work on trial production of small-size Micro LED display and might expand and engage in volume production according to Apple’s plan and progresses.
