Lehigh Township thought about LED traffic lights

USA. Lehigh Township Supervisors are considering replacing traditional traffic signal light bulbs with LED lights to save money and energy.

According to Supervisor Sandra Hopkins ,the township pays about $816 a month for electricity for its traffic signals, amounting to nearly $10,000 a year. So the township would have to outlay some money to replace the bulbs. The replacement cost would be $23,000," Hopkins said.

Hopkins said a state government association claims the township will see a minimum of 60 percent savings while a private consultant and installer of LED lights said the township could see up to 80 percent savings.
