A connected home thrives on the freedom to seamlessly combine devices from different manufacturers that use different standards. LEDVANCE, one of the world’s leading providers of general lighting, is taking the next step towards greater interoperability. All Matter products in the OSRAM SMART+ portfolio have now received the official ‘Works with Home Assistant’ certification. This reinforces LEDVANCE’s approach to smart lighting and control as part of a connected system, giving users the freedom to create lighting and smart-home set-ups that suit their needs, without being tied to a single ecosystem.
With this certification, users no longer need separate apps to control or integrate the products. Instead, Matter-enabled luminaires, lamps, LED strips, wall switches and smart plugs in the OSRAM SMART+ range can be integrated directly and natively into Home Assistant’s local smart-home environment. The focus is not just on individual luminaires or smart components as stand-alone products, but on the value they add as flexible building blocks within a modern, connected system.
“A smart home should be intuitive and give people full control over their devices and data,” says Pulkit Dhanuka, Product Manager for the SMART+ App and SMART+ portfolio at LEDVANCE. “For many people, smart lighting is their first introduction to smart-home technology. By achieving ‘Works with Home Assistant’ certification for our Matter-enabled smart lighting products and related components, we’re showing our support for automations across brands. This gives customers the freedom to create a connected home that is flexible, keeps their data secure and is tailored to their individual needs.”
A smart home tailored to individual needs
Home Assistant is one of the world’s leading open-source smart home platforms, known for its focus on local control, privacy and customisation. With Matter – a future-ready connectivity standard that works across brands – users benefit from greater freedom in everyday life. OSRAM SMART+ Matter products integrate seamlessly with Home Assistant, allowing users to use them effortlessly alongside other devices carrying the “Works with Home Assistant” certification. All data and control commands remain within the user’s local home network.
Working together towards a more open smart home
This certification underlines LEDVANCE’s commitment to open standards. The Matter interoperability standard makes it much easier for connected products to work together, enabling devices from different brands to communicate seamlessly. The certification of these Matter products for use with Home Assistant is aimed primarily at consumers and smart-home enthusiasts who value flexibility, future-proofing and freedom from brand lock-in when creating their smart homes.
