To use the limited battery current available for flash, Analog Devices, Inc. has designed ADP1650 white LED driver, which features a programmable I²C-compatible interface, programmable torch and flash currents for one LED up to 1500mA, two independent TxMASK inputs and a 4-bit ADC. It can provide high efficiency at 85% at the typical battery voltage (90% peak). The ultra-compact ADP1650 measures only 2 × 1.5mm in a 12-ball WLCSP package and reduces PCB requirements.

Sony has developed a prototype 360-degree autostereoscopic display called RayModeler, allowing viewers to see full colour volumetric objects from 360-degree. The National Aquarium in Baltimore, America, is replacing the iconic blue neon wave on the south side of its Pier 3 building and a fixture on the city skyline with LEDs, expected to cut the energy use associated with illuminating the wave by 70 percent. Philips Lumileds developed its LUXEON Rebel ES product line , which enable new outdoor lighting solutions to deliver higher efficacy and more light output. The new LUXEON Rebel ES delivers more than 300 lumens and efficacy of 100 lumens per watt at 1000 mA. When optimizing for system efficiency, current can be lowered and efficacy can exceed 125 lumens per watt.

AIXTRON AG today announced a new order for one Close Coupled Showerhead® GaN based LED MOCVD system from Meijo University, in Nagoya, an established AIXTRON customer in Japan. The order was received earlier this year and the system will be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2010 in a 3x2-inch wafer configuration.The local AIXTRON support team will commission the new reactor at Meijo University.

Compared to 16 lumens per watt for a halogen light,The CL-L251 has a luminous efficiency of up to 106 lumens per watt.
