TESS set the highest luminous efficiency of 100lm/W this April by releasing 10 watt 1000 lumen LED bulb; yet, within 5 months, TESS set a higher standard of 112lm/W for LED lighting industry.

EdgeDiveTech has designed two new products- the Edge Ultra100 and the Edge Ultra200 to lit up the undersea world . The Edge Ultra100 is a single canister light, which provides 9,000 lumens of light with its 80 degree angle. In addition, it has a burn time of 2 hours, is rated to a depth of 500ft (152m) and features wet connections between light head and canister, making it possible to change battery canisters underwater.

Hi Score has completed the replacement of approximately 3,500 T8 fluorescent tubes with the EcoGreenBulb T5 Retrofit System at the second stage of the conversion of the Ocean Four Condominium Towers in Sunny Isles.   The conversion began in October 2009 with the replacing of over 1,000 traditional halogen light bulbs to 6W LED bulbs. And the conversion is saving Ocean Four approximately 40% off this part of their light bill.

Philips Research has developed an AC-powered module for accelerating the move to create mainstream OLED products.   Instead of current OLEDs which require low-voltage direct current sources, the alternating current powered white-light module can be plugged directly into a wall socket.  

It's reported that the world's first all-plastic LED lamp for outdoor illumination is jointly developed by two Japanese companies, Iwasaki Electric Co., Ltd. and Teijin Limited. Iwasaki Electric will release this new lamp by the end of 2010, expecting initial annual sales of 30,000 lamps. Instead of aluminum, the lamp uses a high-thermal-conductivity resin for the housing. And the resin is made by combining Teijin's Raheama（tm） high-thermal-conductivity carbon material with polycarbonate resin.

Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. has launched its latest 70 series PX2370 eco-friendly LED monitor, Magic Lux and Magic Angle in India. The PX 2370 is the first LED monitor, which can support RGB 100% thereby delivering nature-like picture quality.

Magic Bulb, a Chinese company, has created rechargeable LED bulbs and decided to show off their creation at IFA. These bulbs use all of 4W of power while shining as brightly as a 50W bulb. 

Samsung has announced new device of Nori series, the Samsung Nori F (SHW-A200), known as LED illumination, which enable users to customize LED illumination on the front of their mobile phones. Nori F is a flip form factor phone set for South Korea. This device will be available in four fleshy colors such as Bleu Marin, Red, Orange and Light Blue. 

Taiwan's LED chip maker Epistar recently has developed a high-Voltage (HV) LED chip , which enables 135lm/W white LED at 1W and color temperature of 5000 K operation. Package of HV LED chips are available in general lighting and any applications for high-efficacy white light.

New Mexico’s First State Park Retrofitted with Qnuru’s Vector LED Light Bulbs Qnuru™, the premier provider of energy efficient lighting solutions, today announced that it has upgraded New Mexico’s Hyde Memorial State Park area lighting with its Vector LED Light Bulbs. The ranch-style, pole-mounted light fixtures surrounding the park’s visitor entrance were retrofitted with 21 watt Vector Zuni model LED light bulbs (see photo below).

Santa Fe Mayor David Coss and Qnuru™, the premier provider of energy efficient lighting solutions, held a “wire cutting” ceremony to mark the installation of solar-powered luminaires in three of the city’s public parks. The Qnuru off-grid fixtures, named the “Santa Fe” in honor of the city that inspired their design, illuminate Frenchy’s Field Park, a 17-acre “natural park” that occupies an important link in the city’s open-space network of trails and parks. 

Taiwan-based LED chipmaker Epistar reported that the company's final target in Q3 of 2010 gross margin would keep at 35%,in spite of a demand slowdown from the LED-backlit TV segment. According to the company, the revenues of September would impair because it planed to adjust its shipment mix facing the slide forms. And Epistar hoped the share of blue LED capacity into September could reach 100% and red LEDs reach about 75~85%.

Sharp has shown off Aquos LE925 Quattron LED TV at IFA 2010,which consists of two panel sizes - 60- and 46-inch models.   The claimed 1.8x better brightness than normal three primary colour set is said to reduce crosstalk 3D image separation even further.

Toshiba has launched its first 3D enabled Regza WL768 series LED TVs. With the WL768 screens, you can view 3D content straight out of an optional transmitter and even throwing in a pair of active shutter glasses. With integrated Freeview HD tuner, Toshiba are certainly not relying on the 3D aspect of the new screens to generate sales. The service currently offers BBC1, ITV and Channel 4 in HD.

Toshiba has revealed a new pocket projector - Lumileo P100, which is intended primarily for small spaces.

Mitsubishi Electric Corporation has completed installation of a 1,513-inch Diamond Vision large-scale display system, which instead of the previous CRT screens installed in 1996, and becomes the second largest display at a Japanese boat racecourse and the largest in the Kyushu area. It displays high-definition video content, incorporates high-luminance LEDs aligned vertically and horizontally in a 15-millimeter dot pitch and the latest digital screen controllers.

Malaysian firm Dominant has launched its new high brightness AlInGaP devices, DWx-PJG and DWx-PKG. Operating from a supply current of 50mA, this LED features a luminous intensity of 2,600mcd, 7.2 lm (typical) for red; 3,000mcd, 8.0lm (typical) for amber and 3,200mcd, 8.5lm (typical) for yellow.

Japan's Quantum Lighting Products Limited will team up with Future Lighting Solutions, a division of Future Electronics to develop an LED retrofit for E26-base incandescent light bulbs.

Samsung has unveiled its latest 'ultra-slim' 65-inch LED-backbit 3D TV - LED C8000, the company claims it is the world's largest Full HD 3D LED TV.

Eco Depot, Inc has added the new high lumen output 125 Watt high bay LED fixture ICE PIPE to their avant-garde product line of commercial and industrial LED Lighting solutions. The company said that the new low cost ICE PIPE is designed to replace conventional 250 to 400 Watt metal halide lighting fixtures, provide a superior light output and consume 70-80% less electricity.

Taiwan’s Amtran Technology announced that its partner US-based LCD TV brand Vizio had released five M series edge-type LED-backlit LCD TVs in Taiwan. The five new inventions including five models, which from 32- to 55-inch, and the price is NT$27,900 (US$871.48) for 32-inch, NT$32,900 for 37-inch, NT$42,900 for 42-inch, NT$52,900 for 47-inch and NT$83,900 for 55-inch respectively.

AU Optronics (AUO) expanded LED-backlit TV and monitor panels, TV panels cover from 24 -inch to 65-inch models, while monitor panels go up to as large as 27 inch. AUO noted that the proportion of LED-backlit Notebooks panels will be up to 100% at the end of this year. In addition, AUO is preparing for moving into 3D panels for TV, monitor and notebook. The company will release 65-inch 3D TV panels, 3D notebook panels and 23- and 27-inch 3D monitor panels in the next times.

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. has released a new white, non-diffused 3-mm LED. Utilizing ultrabright InGaN technology, the VLHW4100 can achieve a high luminous intensity from 4,500 mcd to 11,250 mcd at 20 mA. Vishay' VLHW4100 features a clear, untinted plastic case with a lens and viewing angle of 22.5 deg., and high light output and visibility performance, the company said that it is optimized for high-end applications with extreme luminous intensity requirements.
