A manufacturer of UV-curable adhesives, Cyberbond, has developed Linop U 400 LED UV curing system. This System was considered as the world’s most advanced LED UV adhesive-curing system. NXP Semiconductors N.V. has promoted two collections of automotive LED driver ICs ASL1010NTK and ASL1010PHN, designed for vehicle LED headlights and tail lights. According to NXP, automotive LEDs have used complex, relatively expensive driver ICs made for generic Solid State Lighting applications that lack many of the critical functions needed for automotive applications.

ON Semiconductor has launched three new products targeted at the automotive market sector at Electronica 2010.   The new NCV7321 is a fully featured local interconnect network (LIN) transceiver designed to interface between a LIN protocol controller and the physical bus in low data rate in-vehicle networking (IVN) applications.

Bentleyville is building what will become the only steel fabricated Christmas tree in the United States standing over 120 feet tall. And rolls of LED lights will be wrapped around the tree as crews finished each section. The 50,000 LED lights are expected to use 37 amps of power. It’s said that over 200,000 people attended the Bentleyville Tour of Lights in 2009, and this year, crews are expecting the tree will draw an even bigger turnout.

Micrel Inc. has introduced the MIC3202, a new step-down HBLED driver with high-side current sense, suits for MR-16 lamps and other general illumination applications.   The MIC3202 has capacity for handling up to eight 1A HBLEDs in series at over 90 percent efficiency with ±5 percent current accuracy from input voltages of 6V to 37V.

The new Smart Lighting Engineering Research Center (ERC) at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) of Troy, NY, USA has arranged a test bed for first LED bulbs on a key building of RPI’s campus.   Led by director Robert Karlicek, the Smart Lighting ERC worked with campus officials to replace some of the conventional incandescent bulbs in overhead lights with LED bulbs in the nine-story George M. Low Center for Industrial Innovation (CII).
