Lighting Science Group Corporation, a global leader in LED lighting products, will preview its next generation line of LED retrofit lamps that will be available in the fourth quarter of this year. The new line of lamps will have substantially increased light output compared to LSG's current line but will be available at about half the cost. Cree announced the commercial availability of the XLamp® XP-G LED, the industry’s brightest and most efficient lighting-class LED. The XP-G LED can produce up to 367 lumens when driven at 1A, at a typical efficacy of 111 lumens per watt; making it 46 percent brighter and 64 percent more efficient than the highest-performance XR-E LED, with an 80 percent smaller footprint.

Sharp Corporation will introduce into the Japanese market four models (60V-inch, 52V-inch, 46V-inch, and 40V-inch*1) of the LX Series “LED AQUOS” LCD TVs from November 10, 2009. Albeo Technologies Inc., a manufacturer and supplier of energy efficient LED lighting systems, today announced that the Bowden Ice Arena in Alberta has retrofitted entirely with Albeo's C-Series High-Bay white-LED Solid-State Luminaire. Albeo's C-Series high-bay produces over 25,000 lumens at 79 lm/W, giving it a wall plug efficiency that surpasses fluorescent and HID high-bay lighting systems.

Oncor, a U.S.-based regulated electric distribution and transmission business, recently announced it has donated energy-efficient LED lighting to Big Tex to help the Texas State Fair giant achieve 67 percent energy savings from his previous lighting system.

OSRAM’s LED technology contributes to the energy efficiency of Volkswagen’s L1 concept car presented at the Frankfurt International Motor Show (IAA). The vehicle, which according to Volkswagen can go into production in 2013, has headlights that are equipped with new OSRAM Joule JFL2 LED systems and matching reflectors. The LED modules take care of the dipped and main beam functions and consume far less energy than conventional headlamps.

LEDtronics® announces the latest additions to its series of energy-efficient replacements for PAR30-style light bulbs. The high-power Dimmable PAR30 is available in Halogen Warm White (2700 to 2800 Kelvin) and Warm White (3200K). The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced Thursday that the Bright Tomorrow Lighting Prize (L Prize) competition has received its first entrant, a product from Philips Electronics. American Airlines and Oncor are completing a major new project that will see the airline replace more than 1,600 traditional lighting fixtures with energy-efficient LED (light-emitting diode) lighting in one of the largest single installations of its kind in the United States. This project will be showcased at the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) Fifth Annual Meeting on Sept. 22-25 in New York City.

iLight Technologies, Inc., an innovator of LED lighting solutions, is pleased to announce the District Court has recently issued rulings that confirm iLight’s victory in its patent infringement litigation against Fallon Luminous Products Corporation, a Knoxville, TN sign company. The Court rejected Fallon’s motion for a new trial, and increased the total amount awarded to iLight to over $5 million.

Sharp Electronics announced the availability of its range of AQUOS Full Screen LED backlight LCD TVs for commercial use. Originally introduced to the world’s media in August this year, the ultra-low energy, affordable LE600 and LE700 televisions are expected to be popular for digital signage and multimedia applications. The LE600 is available in 32”, 40” and 46” models with the LE700 spanning the same range with the addition of a 52” model.

Providing engineering students with a flexible, high brightness LED solution that ultimately helped them win a design competition, TT electronics OPTEK Technology donated 200 high brightness LEDs to an engineering team at North Carolina State University participating in the 2009 North Carolina Engineering Day. OPTEK’s OVQ12S30x7 flexible LED light strips were utilized in the design for illumination of a pedestrian bridge at the Legislative Complex in Raleigh, NC.

New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) Thursday joined The Climate Group and the Central Park Conservancy to unveil lampposts in Central Park equipped with newly installed energy-efficient light-emitting diode (LED) bulbs in order to assess their ability to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve energy efficiency and provide quality lighting.

Vision X Lighting introduced the XIL-M1, which the company believed to be the world’s first CPU powered LED light. The XIL-M1 has a powerful 32 bit micro controller integrated in the housing.
