It’ s reported that Taiwan high power LED lighting manufacturer Aeon Lighting Technology Inc. (ALT), invested in Swaziland, has opened a new era for “African Green Silicon Valley” plan on Swaziland. It has acquired a successful influence on local government as well as other African governments.

Everlight Electronics Co., Ltd. [TSE:2393] appointed Bert Loburg to the newly created position of Director, Distribution Management EMEA, effective from September 23, 2010. Veeco Instruments Inc. (Nasdaq: VECO), has announced that Epistar Corporation, headquartered in Taiwan, placed a multi-tool order for Veeco's TurboDisc(R) K465i(TM) gallium nitride (GaN) Metal Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition (MOCVD) Systems for high volume light emitting diode (LED) production.

Coretronic Corporation(5371)had posted consolidated sales revenue for 3Q of NT$25,903 million with an operating income of NT$1,360 million, up 1% and drop 10% from the previous quarter respectively. Net income totaled NT$1,133 million, dropped 12%. Net income attributable to equity holders of the parent company was NT$1,052 million with the basic EPS of NT$1.45 per common share.   

More and more Taiwanese display panel makers have involved in the production of AMOLED display, because of the optimistic outlooks of the market for such products. Insists on the opinion that AMOLED displays will replace TFT LCDs as the mainstream display panel for smartphones, Wintek Corp.,has switched part of its existing production lines for TFT LCDs to AMOLED displays. At present, its touch panels have contributed over 70% to the firm`s revenue, and TFT LCDs the remainder.

It is reported that Foxconn Electronics will invest US$10 billion in Chengdu to pave way for Chimei Innolux (CMI), which planed to build a factory with producing TFT-LCD panel. While CMI said their indeed planed to invest in china, but the investment was still under evaluation.

Radiant Opto-Electronics pure income for 3Q of 2010 was NT$668 million (US$21.72 million) with an EPS of NT$1.57, and consolidated revenues for 3Q were NT$12.36 billion, with gross profits of NT$1.1 billion, and NT$704 million in operating income.From 1Q until 3Q in 2010, consolidated revenues in Radiant totaled NT$34.62 billion, operating income was NT$2 billion, and net profit reached NT$1.75 billion with an EPS of NT$4.11.

German LED maker LayTec has ranked among the national 50 fastest growing technology companies for the second time at the Deloitte's Technology Fast 50 award ceremony in Berlin on October 20, 2010. The award mainly depends on the total growth in sales within the last 5 years. Because LayTec increased its turnover by 241% between 2005 and 2009, also belongs to the 500 fastest growing technology companies in Europe in 2010.

As the sapphire market became stronger, Taiwan quartz components maker TXC planed to develop sapphire and other crystalline products. It is reported that the company will establish crystal growth capacity and start production in February 2011. Also, wafer slicing and sapphire substrate manufacturing is in the new crystal growth processing operations. TXC planned to invest total NT$300 million (US$9.7 million) initially, with focus on 4- and 6-inch sapphire substrates development.

The Middle East leading retail chain, 'Harman House' announced that it has achieved the highest penetration for Samsung LED TVs in the UAE.   The company further revealed that LED TV sales constitute 55% of its total TV sales in the UAE, thereby underlining the growing demand for flat screen televisions in the country.

The municipal government office in Dongguan, China, has issued a "Dongguan to promote industrial development and application of LED demonstration plan". The plan proposed that some roads to the city street lights newly installed or modified as LED, LED lighting industry in output value reached 15 billion yuan in 2015.And six years to install 80,000 LED lamps.

Taiwan's outlying island of Kinmen has installed a new system of LED lamps for street lighting as part of the county's low carbon energy-saving efforts. As the county government was awarded a grant by the Ministry of Economic Affairs' Bureau of Energy to finance the plan, Sixty-nine automated LED lamps were installed on a section of the island's Huandao East Road, replacing the previous sodium and mercury street lamps.

Recently, CCFL lighting maker Wellypower Optronics’3Q10 revenues made a new record. The consolidated total revenues went up NT$2.27 billion, gross profit was NT$270 million with a 12% gross margin. Also, pure income reached NT$171 million (US$5.53 million), up 694% sequentially, EPS was NT$1.01, and operating incomer was NT$142 million.

Toshiba Lighting & Technology Corp and Panasonic Corp are said to commercialize their straight tube LED lamps to replace fluorescent lamps within 2010. Toshiba Lighting & Technology plans to launch two types of straight tube LED lamps, whose brightnesses are equivalent to those of 20W and 40W fluorescent lamps, respectively, within 2010.   Also,Panasonic  intends to commercialize its straight tube LED lamps within 2010.
