Cree anticipates creating an additional 300 jobs by the end of 2012.

The viewing angle and radiant intensity can be varied with standard secondary optics. Preferred applications are those which require high radiance so that small optics can be used.

Energy Focus, Inc. Albeo Technologies Inc., a leading manufacturer and supplier of energy efficient LED lighting systems, today announced that the University of Colorado (CU) has replaced over 200 F32T8 fluorescent lighting bulbs with Albeo's T8LED conversion kit in a pilot project in the renovation of Farrand Hall, which took place this past summer. Replacing the fluorescent bulbs with LED lighting will reduce energy consumption by 36% and eliminate 15 tons of annual CO2 emissions.

The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) have jointly issued a statement outlining each agency's responsibilities and roles in the Energy Star products program. The EPA and DOE agreed to coordinate efforts to expand and enhance both the National Building Rating Program and the Energy Star program. According to the statement, the Energy Star products program will be improved with expanded coverage, more frequent updates, enhanced efforts on product testing, and a new effort to recognize super efficient products.

Larson Electronics introduced the Magnalight LED10W-1SS-IR infrared LED beacon with adjustable magnetic mount. The 2 inch square aluminum housing contains a single 3 watt infrared LED light that is available in 850nm wavelength or 940nm wavelength. The infrared LED sits within a parabolic reflector and is protected by an aluminum face plate and polycarbonate lens. Projecting 180 lumens, the infrared beacon emits non-visible light that can be viewed with night vision equipment.

The use of light-emitting diodes (LEDs), in traffic signals has become popular among local governments as a means to save energy in recent years. Now, several counties are testing how effective the lights would be for street lighting, according to an article from the Washington-based National Association of Counties (NACo).
