[News] Audi Unveils New Q3, Featuring Micro-LED Headlights for the First Time

News Source:

According to a report from Mezha Media, the latest Audi Q3 crossover stands out from other models in the lineup as the first to feature micro-LED headlights. This technology uses a DMD module—composed of tiny mirror elements—for highly flexible light control, allowing it to project information directly onto the road within the driver’s field of vision. As the report notes, it can display warnings such as possible icy conditions or alerts about reckless lane changes.

With the brand’s first use of micro-LED technology, each headlight unit is reportedly made up of multiple modules packed with 25,600 micro-LEDs within a compact 13 mm space. Each micro-LED measures just 40 micrometers in length. The higher light-shaping resolution and denser arrangement result in significantly greater brightness, as indicated by TCar.

The interior design introduces several new elements. According to Mezha Media, one standout feature is a pair of connected displays that appear to wrap around the driver. Meanwhile, the transmission control joystick is positioned beneath the steering wheel on the right—similar to the layout found in several recent VAG models, the report adds.

Strong Hybrid Offering, with Gasoline and Diesel Options Still Available

The report from Mezha Media indicates Audi Q3 offers a range of powertrain options to suit different driving needs, and the most advanced and powerful version is the PHEV hybrid, known as the e-hybrid. It combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with an electric motor, delivering a total output of 200 kW (272 hp).

The report highlights that the PHEV model is equipped with a 25.7 kWh battery (with 19.7 kWh usable), offering up to 119 km of electric-only driving range.

Notably, in addition to the plug-in hybrid, the Audi Q3 also offers petrol and diesel engine options, as noted by Mezha Media.

As Mezha Media states, the Audi Q3 crossover SUV is one of the brand’s bestsellers. According to the report, sales of the new model will begin in Europe by the end of this summer.
