Toshiba announced E-Core series of LED street lamps

Toshiba announced its E-Core series of LED street lamps, a 400W mercury lamp or a 180W high-pressure sodium lamp.

It is possible to realize an average road luminance of 1.0cd/m2 with an average power consumption of 122W (when input is 200V) by using these lamps. The power consumptions of street lamps using a 400W mercury lamp (KSC-4) are 415W and a 180W high-pressure sodium lamp (KSH-2) are 195W.

It is possible to adjust the brightness of the new LED street lamps in several steps and by up to 50% (an input of 200V is required). The life of their light source is about 60,000 hours, five times longer than a mercury lamp and about 2.5 times longer than a high-pressure sodium lamp.

What’s more, even the LED module of the lamps breaks down, it keeps emitting light by using one of its two power lines. Also, the module has a function to start up by gradually increasing brightness so that it does not harm human eyes.

In addition, Toshiba launched the "LEDW-15101W(H)" for linear poles and the "LEDW-15201W(H)" for oblong poles as well as a power supply unit, "LEK-621P026A01T." The power supply unit has an input voltage of AC100V to AC242V and a power consumption of 150W to 144W. The company intends to sell a total of 5,000 units per year.
