Taiwan TYC Brother Ventures Eyes to Mainland China’s LED Streetlight Market

To tap into mainland China’s LED streetlight market, Taiwan’s auto-lamp maker TYC Brother Industrial Co., Ltd. will invest US$100 million in building LED streetlight factories in several cities of mainland.

According to the company’s president, K.C. Chen, half of the money will be spent on the initial stage building in Kunshan facility, and the left funds will be used to build factories in several cities to assemble the lights.
First-stage construction will start in Q1 of 2011 and second-stage constructions will go through three to five years.

It’s reported that Kunshan facility is designed to be the company’s flagship factory in the project, equipped with R&D, design and manufacturing capabilities. It will be used to develop and manufacture lighting fixtures with great market potential and reflector design.
