The demand for LED lighting in India market would increase by about 40% annually at least for the next five years, global chief executive officer of NTL Lemnis Arun Gupta said yesterday. Kerala, India, The Energy Management Centre (EMC) is in the process of framing a street light policy, which, if implemented in the state, can save 24 million kwh of electricity every year. The state government has revived its plan to illuminate Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, a Unesco world heritage site with LED lights. The project is expected to cost Rs 7.5 crore. According to Bridgelux, nearly 2000 LED-based luminaires, developed for Future Group using Bridgelux ES and RS LED arrays, have been installed in two new retail stores opening in India. The new stores use a combination of downlights, wall washers and track lights all designed by Asian Retail Lighting and using Bridgelux LED arrays.
