Samsung LED Received Energy Star Certification

Samsung LED is reported to obtain the Energy Star certification which is an international yardstick of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) of the United States as to the purchase of lighting equipment.

According to the company, it is the first of its kind in Korea, acquired ISO 17025 for LM79 (illumination) and LM80 (LED) from the Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme.

ISO 17025 is a qualification with which the tests required for Energy Star can be carried out independently.

With the certification, it can significantly avoid complicated procedures of contacting an overseas testing agency approved by the EPA, and save dozens of millions of won and 10 months or so of time.

The company said that, “The certification accompanies tax benefits and some chances to enter into the public procurement market of America, to say nothing of an increased awareness in its private sector. Building on this cornerstone, we will beef up our presence in the global LED illumination industry.”
