Chinese LED Manufacturer AOD and Syska Jointly Invest in Plant Based in Telangana, India

News Source:

Chinese LED light manufacturer Advanced Optronic Devices and Indian company Syska LED Lights will jointly invest INR 5 billion (US $75.21 million) in a LED manufacturing plant in the state of Telangana in India, according to a report from Live Mint.

The new plant will cover 50 acres, and is estimated to create 2,000 jobs, stated Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s office on Monday.

The plant will be established by the Chinese firm’s subsidiary and international sales arm Advanced Optronic Devices International. Syska LED, a subsidiary of SSK Group, manufacturers LEDs to provide solutions for indoor and outdoor industrial segments.

AOD is based in Weifang China, and is a leading LED manufacturer of commercial, outdoor and industrial LED lighting applications.

The Indian government has adopted the lighting by households and government’s urban planning bodies to light up Indian cities. The coastal city of Visakhapatnam replaced its streetlights with LED bulbs after a cyclonic storm Hudhud uprooted streetlight poles in October last year.

The union government intends to deploy the same model in 100 cities across the country, B.P. Pandey, additional secretary of the union power ministry said in August, according to a report in The Hindu.

Representatives of Syska LED and Advanced Optronic Devices submitted their proposals for the plant to chief minister Rao at a meeting on Monday.

The plant’s operation is scheduled to take place in March, AOD’s Chief Exectuvie officer Pratap Kandamuri told the chief minister.

The Telangana government statement noted it will allocate land and provide necessary approvals at the earliest in line with its new industrial policy, TS-iPASS (Telangana State Industrial Project Approval and Self Certification System).
