Uniroyal Global Engineered Products (or the “Company”) upgraded the lighting infrastructure to more energy efficient LED lighting in its North American manufacturing plant located in Stoughton, Wisconsin. The Stoughton plant manufactures Uniroyal Global’s Naugahyde®, automotive and custom/specialty vinyl-coated fabric products. Utilizing an incentive from Focus on Energy, Wisconsin’s statewide program for energy efficiency and renewable energy, the company implemented 575 LED light fixtures within the manufacturing plant’s production floor and warehouse. This lighting project entailed upgrading older light fixtures to LED technology and installing new LED light fixtures with occupancy motion detectors that dim or switch off lights when workers are not present. The lighting project is expected to save a total of 607,706 kilowatt hours in electricity and reduce its annual energy costs.
“With the new LED lighting, we’ve improved task lighting in key production areas, and are seeing a reduction in both energy consumption and related utility costs,” said Jim Recob, Plant Manager. The LED lighting project is one initiative within an overall strategy to invest in energy efficient manufacturing technologies that reduce the environmental impact of manufacturing operations. “This LED technology upgrade represents our commitment to lean manufacturing and energy efficiency while at the same time reducing our carbon footprint,” added Howard Curd, President.
