The Hillsboro Fire Department is answering calls in the all-new 2015 Ford F-150, thanks to local community supporter OSRAM SYLVANIA. The company recently delivered the truck to the Hillsboro Fire Department which provides Fire Protection and Emergency Medical Services to a community that covers approximately 42 square miles and has an estimated population of 6,000 residents. During calendar year 2013, the department responded to approximately 1,000 calls. INDYCAR announced today the introduction of new technology that will track each Verizon IndyCar Series car’s running position and display it in real time via light emitting diode (LED) panels on the side of each racecar. Osram is making smartphones even smarter: Infrared technology enables mobile devices to be unlocked for the first time by scanning the iris of the user. Iris scanning is being used in the ARROWS NX F-04G smartphone from Fujitsu Limited, which is being marketed by the Japanese telecommunications company NTT DOCOMO Inc. This smartphone, which is currently only available in Japan, is the first in the world with this extremely secure functionality for consumers. Infrared light emitting diodes (IREDs) from Osram Opto Semiconductors are used as the light source. These IREDs are the only ones capable of the high power needed for iris scanning from a compact package.
