SOL Inc. Arranges for Solar Led Lighting Systems to Improve Quality Of Life for Earthquake Victims in Peru

Sol Inc. (Solar Outdoor Lighting) has arranged for the donation of 42 solar lighting systems to 11 communities in Peru affected by the August 2007 earthquake. Philanthropist David Russell, who, funded the donation with the assistance of Practical Action of Peru and local governments facilitated a partnership with Sol Inc. to ensure the donated lights were installed where they were needed most.

Addressing the high level of interest in solid-state lighting, TPS62260LED LED develoipment board from Texas Inatruments enables lighting designers to develop and evaluate a variable-color RGB-LED lighting system using an RF lighting control for management of lighting intensity and color. Acuity Brands Lighting Inc. has forged a relationship with Dallas-based Lighting Science Group Corp. (OTC BB: LSCG) to develop and sell multiple light emitting diode (LED) lighting products. Chinese suppliers: LED market to grow

The market for light-emitting diodes is set to grow significantly throughout the year despite an economic downturn, according to Chinese suppliers. A survey of LED light fixture suppliers carried out by Global Sources revealed that 81 per cent believed that exports would grow at ten per cent or more over the coming year. Some 67 per cent even predicted expert sales to be even higher, with expectations reaching 20 per cent or more. The main driver for the export growth was cited as a growing range of LED-based lighting applications.

The LED sector in Taiwan generally had weaker-than-expected sales in April despite players' optimism that orders would be picking up in the second quarter.LED packagers Unity Opto Technology and Harvatek saw their April sales drop sequentially.Unity said shipments of applications for LED backlighting dipped in April amid clients' inventory adjustments. The company's April revenues declined 4.6% sequentially to NT$292 million (US$9.58 million), which nevertheless represents a 24% on-year increase.

Domestic enterprises eyeing huge market potential for LED lamps
