Consortium for Intelligent Micro-Assembly System CIMS to Provide Membership Services for Online Courses due to COVID-19 Pandemic

Since last year, manufacturers of LEDs, panels, and systems across the globe have displayed Micro LED-related products at major international exhibitions. Applications include automotive and indoor fine-pitch displays. This has kick started a Micro LED trend across the world. At the beginning of this year, leading industry players including Taiwan’s ITRI, Japan’s Sony, and Korea’s Samsung, LG, and Seoul Semiconductor have all presented the latest Micro LED technology at CES 2020.

As one of the major focuses in the display industry, Micro LED is complex and requires integrated techniques supported by the whole supply chain. The technology is connecting manufacturers of semiconductors, panels, LEDs, and system integration to establish a communication platform in the industry. Panel and LED producers from various countries have formed alliances to get a head start. For industry players who aim to play a leading role in Micro LED technology and relevant display manufacture, it is important to keep track of the latest trends in the industry and current technology development at each end.

In order for all personnel to keep up with the latest trends in Micro LED technology in the industry, the Consortium for Intelligent Micro-assembly System (CIMS), the world’s largest Micro LED organization led by the ITRI, is working with LEDinside to change the mode of operation in response to COVID-19. Meetings in person will now be held online, so members can still receive updates of the industry seamlessly while avoiding the risk of infection.

In addition to online courses, the CIMS will create a database for members of the alliance. Members can follow up on industry trends anytime, anywhere to layout strategies for the company and stay at the forefront of the industry.

The CIMS was organized by the ITRI in 2016. A few tens manufacturers around the world have joined so far. The CIMS bridges LED, materials, IC design, semiconductor packaging, panel, and system application to establish a cross-industry Micro LED communication platform. It also provides Micro LED pilot run and mass transfer services.
