Delta Expects to 5% Growth in Annual Revenue for 2009

After landing big orders for LED lightings and winning bids for supplying solar cell panels, Delta Electronics Inc. projected its annual revenue to grow 5% from 2008 to hit NT$150 billion in 2009, despite the lingering global economic downturn.

Delta reported a 28.47% revenue drop in the fourth quarter of 2008, but kept profitable in the quarter and projected its EPS to reach between NT$4.5 and NT$5 for entire the year. Delta noted that its 2009 revenue is mainly buoyed by promising sales of LED lightings and tenders for Taiwan government purchases. Especially, its high-profile, energy-efficiency LED lightings have been recognized and ordered by buyers in Europe and the U.S., and the orders are scheduled to be filled starting the second quarter of this year.

Besides, the firm has geared up to venture into the market this year, and has won the tender for supplying solar cell panels to Kaohsiung’s World Games Symposium and Taichung thermal power plant, which are valued at between NT$200 million and NT$300 million. Plus, the firm is also going to bid for LED streetlights procurement projects launched by various county and city governments.

Diversifying product lines is also Delta’s main strategy to counter industrial recessions this year. Meanwhile, the firm has boosted its sales in emerging markets for power supplies for communication devices, after landing new orders in China, Brazil and India. The firm believes that increasingly strong demand in emerging markets is expected to effectively offset sales declines in the European and the U.S. markets this year.
