Nichia Updates on the Patent Lawsuit Filed by Everlight

On April, 25, 2017, a Taiwanese LED manufacturer Everlight Electronics Co., Ltd. (“Everlight”) issued a press release, announcing that it had filed a patent infringement lawsuit in Tokyo District Court against Nichia Corporation (“Nichia”) and other companies.
 
In usual cases, a complaint filed in Tokyo District Court is served to the defendant within one or two weeks. As of the beginning of June, more than five weeks after the press release, however, the complaint for patent infringement filed by Everlight has not been served to Nichia yet. Moreover, Everlight’s press release does not contain specific patent number or specific names of Nichia products.
 
Nichia announces the foregoing because it receives many inquiries from its customers.
