Sources inform that on this Tuesday, LG Electronics gets together with its component-making unit, LG Innotek Co., to file a lawsuit in the No. 2 Intermediate People's Court of Beijing,  China against Osram and auto parts maker Hella KGaA Hueck & Co., seeking a ban on sales of Osram's LED products and Hella's headlamps in the Asian country. Samsung, LG Makes a Collaboration to Countersue Osram

After Osram claimed Samsung and LG infringed its patents on white and surface mountable LEDs,the two South Korea companies have taken actions to fight for their rights. Osram Makes Breakthroughs on OLED

Lately, Osram has made two breakthroughs on OLED. One breakthrough is that, testing under application-oriented conditions in an integrating sphere, the company has achieved 87 lm/W with its OLED in the lab. In contrast to the previous achieved peak value, this efficacy is about 40 percent higher or nearly the efficiency of fluorescent lamps. Osram had not seen Samsung’s complaint yet and did not know its specific content which has been issued in Korea. According to a spokesperson, Osram is well prepared regarding possible steps by Samsung and is therefore relaxed about the move by the counter claimant. OSRAM initiates patent infringement litigation against Samsung and LG

OSRAM has filed legal actions against Samsung group companies and LG group companies in the US and Germany as well as against an LG group company in Japan. Based on its conviction that these companies, respectively, infringe fundamental patent rights, OSRAM will also file a suit against LG in China tomorrow.
