Philips to Strengthen Strategy for Korean LED Lighting Market

Senior executives of Philips Lighting Division recently expressed in a new LED lighting conference that Philips will strengthen strategy for Korean LED lighting market.

South Korean government held a positive attitude towards the replacement of LED lighting, LED lighting accounted for only 7% in 2008, it is estimated that the proportion will be up to 50% in 2015 and it will reach 75% in 2020.

Philips said that it will strengthen partnership with South Korea LED lighting related manufacturers. Nearly two months ago, it began looking for a suitable program; the cooperation does not exclude mergers and acquisitions, establishment of cooperative companies, commission and contracting and other possibilities. It is believed that the company to cooperate and the specific cooperation programs will be announced by the end of 2010.

In addition, Philips introduced new LED lighting products to be listed in September, including LED lights able to replace incandescent and halogen bulbs, LED road lighting, indoor lighting and so on.

Compared with the products available in the supermarkets from April, the LED lighting to replace incandescent lamps achieved an improvement of more than 70% in luminous efficacy, and price still remains at about 20,000 won.

The power consumption of MasterLED to replace 50 W halogen lamps is only 1/5 of halogen lamp, and it can exhibit near-natural light source, color rendering index is up to 80 or more.
